Abstract

Written by Shaharom Husain, this book shows how in the days before Malaya's independence, teachers underpin the political movement in UMNO, KKM and API in the fight for the Malays. They also penetrated the media and interfering in the newspapers. They appear as writers, poets and writers. They voicing comments that are sharp, hard and cynical to British colonialism through Utusan Melayu, Majlis, Warta Malaya, Warta Ahad and Warta Jenaka. Also published in their hands are Cendera Mata, Majalah Guru and Mashhor Malaya that popular during that time. Abdul Ghafar Baba, Syed Nasir Ismail, Alimun, Ahmad Bakhtiar, Buyong Adil, Harun Aminurrashid, Senu, Za'aba, Shaharom Husain and many more are very close to Sultan Idris Training.

Sultan Idris Training College and Pejabat Karang Mengarang likened to the university level that has not flourished at the time [1]. In addition to the Sultan Idris Training College in Tanjung Malim also HMY-bookstore that become an agent connects teacherswith Sukarno, Hatta, Hamka, Adi Negoro, Md. Yamin, Shahrir and Tan Malaka thought in Indonesia. Their writings have been an inspiration and inspire young teachers in Malaya in turn fosters writing activities among teachers at Sultan Idris Training College. Indeed job as a teacher and author are careers most prestige and most influential at the time. Unfortunately most important and interesting story time was not recorded and instead become a conversation among retired teachers and some of the interesting anecdotes. This memoir-style book as less is produced. This is because it is not easy to remember sequences of events that
we ever had. Readers must express their sincere appreciation to the author that aware many of his life experiences that can be shared. The content of this book is the author's own experience for half a century been in five areas, namely since the author started writing (1934-1985). These areas are education and literacy, language and literature, history, culture particular in drama and politics.
