Darrell R. Fry, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Stephen F. Austin (SFA) State University in 1995. He then earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas where he specialized in optical fiber sensors in 2001. In 2001, Dr. Fry ventured to a post as a visiting assistant professor at Mississippi State University. In 2002, he Natchitoches, Louisiana where he as an assistant professor of chemistry at Northwestern State University (NSU). While there Dr. Fry broadened his research experience by collaborating with an experimental physicist and a molecular biologist to study the African trypanasome in a multidisciplinary fashion. In 2011, Dr. fry was happy to return to his alma mater Stephen F. Austin as an assistant professor of chemistry. Since then his research has again focused on sensors.
