Personalized Implant Design: Advancing Precision, Functionality, and Patient-Centered Healthcare

Abstract

Personalized implant design represents a transformative shift in modern clinical medicine and biomedical engineering. Unlike conventional “one-size-fits-all” implants, personalized implants are tailored to the anatomical, biomechanical, and physiological characteristics of individual patients. This approach integrates advanced imaging, computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis, and additive manufacturing technologies to produce patient-specific solutions that improve surgical outcomes, reduce complications, and enhance longterm implant performance. This article discusses the conceptual foundations, technological workflow, clinical applications, advantages, limitations, and future directions of personalized implant design. The increasing convergence of digital healthcare, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing is expected to make personalized implants a standard in clinical practice.
