Habib is working as senior researcher at Department of Computer Systems and Technology, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is working on big data mining systems for Internet of Things. Habib serves as reviewer ("The VLDB Journal, Springer" and "Statistics and Computing, Springer"), technical committee member (IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society), and student member (IEEE Computational Intelligence Society). Overall he has more than 10 years experience of working in professional and research organizations.

His research covers a wide spectrum of application areas including smart cities, mobile social networks, Quantified self, mHealth and wearable assistive technologies among many others. The key research areas of his interest are: mobile computing, edge-cloud computing, Internet of Things, data mining, machine learning, and mobile distributed analytics.
