Biography

Dr. Zongmin Zhao is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University in the John A. Paulson School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and Wyss Institute. He has received his Ph.D. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2017. Dr. Zhao has over 4 years of experience on developing nanoparticle-based platforms for biomedical applications, drug delivery, and vaccine development. Dr. Zhao has published many papers in highly reputed journals in the field of nanobiotechnology, nanomedicine, and drug delivery. He has delivered many oral and poster presentations in national and international conferences. He has also filed several patent disclosures and PCT patent applications. Dr. Zhao is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In addition, Dr. Zhao are currently serving as reviewers for several peer-reviewed journals in the area of nanotechnology, nanomedicine, and drug delivery.

 

Research Interest

1) developing various nanoparticle platforms for biomedical applications, such as targeted drug delivery for disease treatment

2) studying the effect of properties of nanoparticles (such as shape and deformability) on their performances for specific purposes

3) developing next-generation nanoparticle-based nicotine vaccines for smoking cessation

4) developing efficient strategies for transdermal delivery of therapeutic drugs and vaccines.
