Thromboembolism

Thromboembolism: Formation during a vessel of a clot (thrombus) that breaks loose and is carried by the blood stream to plug another vessel. The clot may plug a vessel within the lungs (pulmonary embolism), brain (stroke), alimentary canal , kidneys, or leg. Thromboembolism may be a significant explanation for morbidity (disease) and mortality (death), especially in adults. Treatment may involve anticoagulants (blood thinners), aspirin, or vasodilators (drugs that relax and widen vessels). Thrombosis (from Ancient Greek θρόμβωσις thrómbōsis "clotting”) is that the formation of a grume inside a vessel , obstructing the flow of blood through the cardiovascular system . When a vessel (a vein or an artery) is injured, the body uses platelets (thrombocytes) and fibrin to make a grume to stop blood loss
