Biography

 Dr. Rao received his PhD from one of the top most pharmacy schools in India, University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kakatiya University, Andhra Pradesh, India. He taught human anatomy, physiology and pharmacology to BS pharmacy students for more than 3 years. Post PhD, he worked for Drug Discovery and Development giants, Lupin Research Park, Lupin Limited, and Advinus Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., Pune, India in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) division from 2006 to 2010. He began with the Dr. Bala Ambati lab in 2010, as a Postdoctoral Fellow, and continuing his research activities as Director, Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics, iVeena LLC, and as Research Associate at John A Moran Eye Center, University of Utah. Dr. Rao is playing a key role in design and development of a novel Bioerodible Dexamethasone Implants (BDI) to provide targeted (local) and sustained release of dexamethasone during the critical postoperative time period, thus eliminating the need for topical steroid drops after cataract surgery. Dr. Rao is the co-inventor on 2 patents and published several papers in international peer-reviewed journals and his work is cited in the biomedical literature by colleagues all over the world. Dr. Rao is a peer reviewer for more than ten international journals and serving in the editorial and advisory boards of several pharmaceutical and bio-medical journals
