Shri.T.Elangovan is currently working as Scientist-G and Head, Traffic & Transportation Division of National Transportation Planning & Research Centre (NATPAC) - an R&D Centre of Govt. of Kerala. He is a Graduate Engineer in Civil Engineering branch passed out from Madras University in 1977 and Post Graduate in Traffic & Transportation Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. He has 35 years of experience as Research Scientist in various capacities in NATPAC and also served as Director of NATPAC from 1998 to 2005. The field of experience and specialization include: Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Urban Transport Planning, Road Safety Engineering,Infrastructure Planning, Inland Water Transport, Sustainable Development and Planning and Design of Transportation Facilities in various cities. He has been a Resource Person for short term courses and approved Trainer for training State Government/ city officials on Urban Transportation.Published over 40 papers in referred international and national journals; presented papers in several International Conferences; and more than 80 papers presented in National/State level Seminars and Workshops. Completed over 50 research studies, 70 sponsored projects and guided over 25 Thesis works of M.Tech (Transportation Engineering)students from leading national institutions and universities across the country. He has also published books and editorial reviews of dozen publications in the area of Transportation and allied areas.He was awarded the British Government sponsored Commonwealth Scholarship for undergoing Advanced Study and Research at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK,where he taught Post Graduate students of Transportation Engineering during 1988-90. He is elected as Council Member of Indian Road Congress,New Delhi, nominated to Highway Research Board of IRC and Fellow of Institute of Town Planners, India. He is currently serving as a Member of Kerala Transport Fare Regulatory Body, Director on the Board of Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation Ltd. Cochin, and Academic Council Member of Noorul Islam University, Tamil Nadu.
