Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine in depth and analyze immunological indices in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD patients). Material and methods: We have analyzed immunological indices in 31 DMD patients, aged 16,1 ?±6,76. The patients underwent a complete examination, involving studying the medical case history, general clinical data, the detailed neurological status examination, laboratory (including immunogram indices and myositis profile) and instrumental examinations. Research results: The T-helper cells range in half of the patients deviated from the norm, namely: the CD3 / CD45 / CD4 range was below 33 % in 14 DMD patients (45.2 %). The CD4 / CD8 ratio showed to be within normal limits in 21 patients (the majority of cases â?? 67,7%) and to be below normal in 10 patients (32,3%). The CD16+56+ / CD45 range was observed to be within normal limits in 23 patients (74,2%), to be above normal in 3 patients (9,7%) and below normal in 5 patients (16,1%). Among 31 DMD patients, the CD19 / CD45 B-lymphocytes range deviated from the reference values in 4 patients (12.9 %), namely: it was above 22% in 3 patients (9.7%) and below 5% in 1 case (3, 2%). The CD3 / CD45 range was also within the normal limits in the majority of patients, namely in 23 patients (74.2%), and it was below 56% in 8 patients (25.8%). The CD3/ CD45/ CD8 range was observed to be within normal limits in 28 patients (the majority of cases â?? 93%) and to be above normal in 3 patients (9, 7%). Conclusions: The presented survey revealed that DMD patients had divergence in the immunogram parameters, which could influence the disease course and required further detailed studies. Key words: Duchenne muscular dystrophy, immunological characteristics.
