Recent advances in liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and data analysis software enable the direct analysis of extremely complex peptide mixtures, often mentioned as shotgun proteomics or multidimensional protein identification technology (MudPIT). Although multidimensional liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (MDLC-MS/MS) systems are recently developed as powerful tools, especially for identification of protein complexes, these systems still have some drawbacks in their application to clinical research that needs an analysis of an outsized number of clinical samples. Vs Yu-Chang Tyan, Mass Spectrometry in Clinical Diagnosis: A Preliminary Application in Tumor Cellular Proteomics for Biomarker Discovery Journal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics from OMICS Group published best research and peer-review articles within the field of mass spectrometry and its applications of to review the proteome.
