Written by Shaharom Husain, this biography book aims to record as accurately as possible the experience and behavior of Dato' Onn in the struggle to liberate his country from British colonial rule without deify leader. It is undeniable that there has been many books written about Dato Onn' but most of them have a specific purpose and a desire to protect the interests of certain parties. This is very significant, especially when the books were written by authors from the West. There is incomplete and some are misleading. A period of twelve years to research and write this book is a testament to the seriousness of the author presents smoothly Dato' Onn’s life. In addition to making detailed references, the author has reviewed and examined all the information obtained and was confirmed by Dato' Onn relatives and the people who were involved in the struggle

It is undeniable that there has been many books written about Dato Onn' but most of them have a specific purpose and a desire to protect the interests of certain parties. This is very significant, especially when the books were written by authors from the West. There is incomplete and some are misleading. A period of twelve years to research and write this book is a testament to the seriousness of the author presents smoothly Dato' Onn’s life. In addition to making detailed references, the author has reviewed and examined all the information obtained and was confirmed by Dato' Onn relatives and the people who were involved in the struggle. The author has tried to give an objective view and review and correct inaccuracies as well as recording and writing are available. Although the information contained in this book are not one hundred percent complete, it is sufficient to be a source of credible and useful reference to all segments of society, especially students of high school and upper secondary subjects who took history. This book is also useful for young people should remember and continue the struggle to build an independent, united and prosperous. Before the last twelve years (1968-1980) the writing of this book, the author has collected materials written in his diary, from the newspapers, pamphlets, magazines and books published in and external load associated with writing of Dato' Onn’s political struggle. Among the most important are Utusan Melayu, Majlis, Melayu Raya and other numerous events to discuss political developments in the country concerned with the struggle of Dato' Onn and the political parties that funded, organized and led by him. The writer was attracted and interested about it, then gathered the struggles and speeches of Dato' Onn to be recorded. Dato' Onn was the only Malay who can be comparable with Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi in India and Sukarno in Indonesia [1]. Dato' Onn famous as an orator in Malaya, either in Malay or English language. His voice and speech pithy, concise, sharp and have an impact on his audience. His fluency and eloquence of speech in English is because Dato 'Onn old studying in England and often mingle with the English people. Therefore Dato' Onn can argue about points and arguing with Edward Gent and other British colonial officials to overthrow the Malayan Union and establish the Federation of Malaya. The content of this book focuses on the issues of struggle of Dato' Onn in politics than ever since he returned home (Johor) and became an officer serving with the Johor government after studying in England, from the time Dato' Onn relegated to Singapore in 1928 and opened Sunday Mirror, Warta Malaya, Lembaga Malaya and Lembaga newspapers. In this newspapers that Dato' Onn began to voice criticism and protest against the injustice associated with some events occurring in Johor at that time. He also voicing against British colonial policies governing Malaya. Most of his brilliant speech in the form of suggestions, objections, forecasts and so are written in this book for general knowledge. The author claimed many more ingredients of Dato' Onn political struggles has not been collected for inclusion in this book. What is contained in this book is simply the ability of the author. The author write and produce this book not intended for stand-bulge, exultant and glorifying Dato' Onn. The author's purpose is to create real lasting memories for all his services to the nation, the state and religion. As well as repay Dato' Onn who is a leader and Minister of Foreign Affairs that cleared from corruption and self-interest. The publisher also likes to express appreciation to the United Malayan Banking Corporation Berhad which had generously contributed financially to help finance the publication of this book. This contribution has enabled the publisher to publish and distribute this book at a price much lower. It is hoped that this book will be owned and read by all segments of society, especially those who love the history of the nation. This book is also very important to the race historian researchers on the political turmoil the country and to those who expect the writing of history based on natives’ glasses.
