A Simulation Study of Behaviour of Wireless Motes With Reference To Parametric Variation

Abstract

A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consists of spatially distributed small nodes to collecting, measuring, and aggregating parameters beyond our current abilities and to cooperatively pass their data through the network to a main location. The more modern networks are bi-directional, enabling also to control the activity of the sensors. The development of wireless sensor networks was motivated by military applications such as battlefield surveillance; today such networks are used in many industrial and civilian application areas. WSNs are self-organizing networks of small embedded devices called motes. These are deployed in the environment being monitored, either placed individually or scattered with high enough density relative to their sensing and communication ranges to ensure good connectivity and sensing coverage. In this paper, study of motes behaviour using True time simulator, MATLAB based networked Simulator is discussed. Also, this paper presents study of variation in parameters like Transmission Power, Receiving threshold power, Average visiting time.
