MATLAB/Simulink PV Module Modelof P&O And DC Link CDC MPPT Algorithmswith Labview Real Time Monitoring And Control Over P&O Technique

Abstract

The paper presents the simulation of the P&O and DC Link Capacitor Droop ControlTechnique for Solar Photovoltaic module using MATLAB Simulink. This MPPT techniques for a PV system has its own merits and demerits. MPPT technique was simulated and technique are compared for its performance evaluation. The I-V & PV characteristics are obtained for various values of solar insolation keeping the cell temperature constant. The MPPT algorithm, which is based on DC Link Capacitor Droop Control method, is describedand TheP-V characteristics were obtained for standardvalue of insolation and temperature forboth DC Link CDC method and P&O method with a DC/DC boost. Also, the points indicating Module voltage Vmp and Current Imp at maximum power Pmax were obtained. The algorithm works along with a boost converter and can be accessed to online system if needed.Analysis works are made for a chosen PV panel with specified Voltage, current and power rating. All possible kinds of analysis are made accordingly regarding insolation, temperature, along with time to know how the whole system responds. Since DC Link CDC method is used in grid connection Inverter module, Synchronizer and switches are also designed in Simulink model. All component designs were according to standard mathematical equations. A resultcomparisons are made for DC Link Capacitor Droop Control method to P&O MPPT technique results, to check its working methodology reliability, functionality and to make a conclusion to decide suitable MPPT algorithms for standalone and grid connected system. A hardware model was setup for P&O technique with the control and monitoring trough software LabVIEW, ECOSENSE PV module and control panel is linked with the software to run the algorithm. Experiments with change in load and isolations were run on the hardware setup.
