Biography | ||
Dr. Niranjan Prasad (born in 1966 in Patna) did his schooling from Birla Public School, Pilani; B.E. (Agricultural Engineering) from CTAE, Udaipur; and M. Tech. and Ph. D. from IIT, Kharagpur. He obtained his post doctoral training in Smart/Active Packaging from Michigan State University, USA. He worked as Lecturer at NERIST, Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh during 1996-97. Later he joined Indian Lac Research Institute, Ranchi as Agricultural Research Service Scientist in 1997 and presently working as Principal Scientist and Head of Processing and Product Development Division. He is also working as Project Coordinator of National Network Project on Harvesting Processing and Value Addition of Natural Resins and Gums and Consortium Principal Investigator of National Agricultural Innovation Project (World Bank) on Lac Value Chain. During his 15 years of experience in research and extension, he published 35 research papers in National and International Journals. He has developed tools and machines for lac cultivation and processing (i.e. tree pruner, lac scraper and lac processing unit) which have been commercialized.He is a member of a number of professional societies i.e. Life Member ISAE, Member Institution of Engineers, Life Member ISTE, Life Member ISCA, Life Member of Society for Advancement of Natural Resins and Gums and Life member ARS Forum.He has received number of awards i.e. ISAE Jain Irrigation Award (1987-88), ISAE Distinguished Service Certificate (2002-03), ISAE Commendation Medal 2008-2009, DST SERC Visiting Fellowship (1999), IINRG Ranchi Certificate of Merit (2004-09) and Bioved, Allahabad Fellowship 2012. He is also member of Institute Management Committee of CIPHET, Ludhiana; CIAE, Bhopal and IASRI, New Delhi. |
