Dr. A. Heidari, Ph.D., D.Sc. is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Chemistry. He has got his Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees form California South University (CSU), Irvine, California, USA. Furthermore, he has double postdocs in Project Management and also in Nanochemistry and Molecular Structure Theory. His research interests are Biophysical Chemistry, Nanochemistry, Quantum Chemistry, Biomolecular and Vibrational Spectroscopy, Molecular Modeling and Structure, Theoretical, Computational and Mathematical Chemistry, Ab initio and Density Functional Methods. He has participated at more than fifty reputed international conferences, seminars, congresses, symposiums and forums around the world as yet. It should be noted that he has visited many universities or scientific and academic research institutes in different countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Russia, France, Swiss, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, South Korea, China, etc. as research fellow, sabbatical and volunteer researcher or visitor heretofore. He has a history of several years of teaching for college students and various disciplines and trends in different universities. Joined Regional Research Laboratory and worked for PhD as a Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Fellow in 1983 and received doctoral degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. Later, continued research at the same place as CSIR Post-doctoral Fellow and CSIR Research Associate. In 1984, started employment as a scientist at Regional Research Laboratory which is later renamed as Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in 1989 and is continuing till today. My area of research mainly focuses on the synthesis of various noble metal nanoparticles (Ag, Au, Pd and Pt) by using plant materials and studying their impact on the plant, soil and pest insects, preparation of nano-formulations. Preparation of monodispersed nanoparticles from plants which has negligible ecotoxicological effects on non-target organisms and studied for their significance in agricultural and medicinal sector with commercial application.

Developed a triglyceride Biosensor which has been patented from US. We focus on optimal design of a sustained/ controlled release system necessitates a thorough understanding of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drug. Working on the development of a Microbial fuel cell devices where bacteria used as a catalyst to oxidize organic and inorganic matter and generate current. Engineering a fungal proteins for high affinity binding to the heavy metals to use them in the field of bioremediation. Functionalizing the nanoparticles for a specific and targeted drug delivery.

After finishing her Msc in Zoology at Kerala University, Dr. Lekha Dinesh Kumar did her second masters and Phd in Molecular biology & Biotechnology at IARI, New Delhi. She joined as Scientist C at CDFD, Hyderabad in 1998. Later she shifted to CCMB in 2001 where she is currently holding a position of Principal Scientist and Project Leader, Cancer Biology. She received “Vicky Dickinson memorial fellowship” of Cardiff University for Post Doctoral Research in 2005. She is also the recipient of UICC-ICRETT (International Union against Cancer) fellowship award (2008). Her research activities at CCMB include Biomarker discovery in Breast cancer and Leukemias with an emphasis on the role of oncomiRs in the development and progression of these cancers. Her group has adopted a multidisciplinary approach consisting of in silico, in vitro and in vivo studies for identifying deregulated microRNAs and their targets. This would open up the possibility of using these small RNA molecules for the prognosis, diagnosis and treatment of cancer in future

Dr. Kumar's main interest is biological drug discovery with an emphasis on “wnt signal transduction pathway and the effect of its deregulation during colon and breast cancer”. Creating in vivo novel disease models by knock-in and knock out transgenic technology is being followed by her group to silence, over express and misexpress the wnt deregulators in the murine intestine. They also intend to use siRNA/shRNA as a biological drug in combination with various nanoparticles for delivery into colon and breast cancer models.

Dr. Rehan Khan is working as a Scientist at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali, India. Currently his area of research is application of Cancer Biology, synthetic lethality & Cancer, nanochemoprevention of cancer. His main research interest is to develop novel drug targets for cancer treatment by exploiting chromosomal instability (CIN) genes. These CIN genes are cancer cell specific signatures and can be used for the selective killing of cancer cells. During his postdoctoral training, by using yeast/drosophila datasets, he was working on to develop synthetic lethal interactors of homologous recombination repair (HRR)-deficient cancer cells for synergistic killing of cancer cells only sparing normal cells.

Dr.M.Srinivasa Rao is working as a scientist in Biology Division of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. He obtained Masters Degree in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University and PhD in Zoology from Osmania University. He has breadth of research experience in epidemiology vector borne diseases, disease modelling and spatio-temporal mapping studies. He is also working on the role of climatic factors on transmission of various vector borne diseases like malaria, Japanese encephalitis and dengue. Besides these studies, mosquito bio-efficacy studies and antimicrobial activity are also carried out against various natural and synthetic compounds. Halmuthur.M.Sampath Kumar, Medicinal Chemist and Immunologist, graduated from chemistry department Gulbarga University, India securing first rank and a gold medal in 1986. After a brief stint in a leading pharmaceutical Industry based in south India, he joined Regional research Laboratory, Hyderabad as research officer in 1988, where he worked on Biomimetic chemistry and obtained his Ph.D degree in the year 1995. He later worked on various aspects of agrochemical and pharmaceutical technology development at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad. During this period , Dr. Kumar acquired extensive training and skills in combinatorial Chemistry and development of new synthetic methods, organometallic chemistry, green chemistry and synthesis of complex carbogenic molecules. His work in the afore mentioned areas led to several publications in reputed international journals and his efforts in basic and applied areas of organic synthesis won him several awards and recognitions. He later moved to Max Planck Institute for Molecular physiology at Dortmund in the year 2000 as Alexander von Humboldt Fellow to work in Prof . Waldmann’s laboratory in the area of gene therapy till 2002. He continued working in IICT-Hyderabad till 2003 and relocated to Regional Research Laboratory-Jammu. He had been the chairman of the Department of Synthetic and Biological Chemistry(presently rechristened as Medicinal Chemistry) at IIIM-Jammu dedicated to medicinal Chemistry research. Currently Dr .Kumar is the nodal scientist for the Vaccine immunology programme at CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad, where his focus is on the development of novel vaccine/drug delivery vehicles, vaccine(Th1) adjuvants, small molecule immunomodulators based on natural product scaffolds. His team was instrumental in developing cost effective technology for several drugs and agrochemicals which are successfully commercialized in India and abroad. Dr. Kumar successfully completed collaborative projects with various reputed multinationals like P&G and Colgate Palmolive in the area of cosmeceuticals and oral care products. Dr. Halmuthur Kumar has published 106 research papers in various international journals of repute and patented his inventions. Lakshmi Rao is Principal Scientist at the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, a position she has held since 1999 (after joining CCMB in 1995). She graduated from Lakshmi Narayan Institute of Technology in Biochemistry, Nagpur in 1993. While serving as Scientist at CCMB, completed her PhD at Hyderabad, Department of Genetics, Osmania University, Hyderabad. She completed her postdoctoral studies in 2013 at Florida International University, Miami, United States. In 1997 she joined Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, as a Scientist on Contract establishing Chromosome Diagnostics Services.She was awarded the travel grants from Royal Society of Edinburgh, and presented her work in London, Japan and United States. She has about 42 publications and successfully coordinated in guidance of PhD students and imparted training in cytogenetics to several students and establishing centers for human cytogenetics. Finally her contributions in cytogenetics helped in bridging patients as geneticist with clinicians and doctors across the country and provided tremendous help for human cause in society.

I have received my PhD in 2008 in Biochemistry from Lucknow University. Presently working as Scientist in department of Neurobiology / Neurotoxicity, Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) since 2006. I have nearly 30 publications resulting to Cumulative impact factor of 90.74 till date. I am presently also supervising the three senior research fellows (fellowships are from CSIR, UGC and ICMR) for their fulfillment of doctoral degree. All the three students are registered from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for the award of their doctoral degree. I have also guided more than 35 dissertation trainees for their partial fulfillment of postgraduate degree. She has worked in research areas of solubility enhancement techniques, floating drug delivery, pulsatile drug delivery, buccal drug delivery, organogels, emulgel, transdermal drug delivery system, SMEDDS, microemulsion based drug delivery, nasal drug delivery etc. She has published more than 70 national and international research articles in reputed journals. She has three books to her credit. She is Member of Board of Studies for Faculty of Pharmaceutics in University of Pune. She has guided more than 30 post graduate students. Presently seven Ph.D and five M. Pharm students are working under her guidance.

Biography :

Prof. Yuri L. Lyubchenko received his PhD in Molecular Biophysics from the Moscow Institute Physics and Technology (Russia) during the period of 1969-1971. He also received D. Sc. degree in Molecular Biology from Institute of Molecular Genetics (Moscow, Russia) in 1989. Currently, he is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE. Research of Lyubchenko focuses on understanding fundamental mechanisms underlying health and disease, which are key to developing new and more effective diagnostics and medications. This primarily basic research allows him not only identify new drug targets for small molecule drugs, it also leads to development of the tools and methods to discover novel approaches for diagnostic, treatment and disease prevention and to more rapidly determine their efficacy at the molecular level.
