Biography

Dr. Xu is currently a Postdoc Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. She received her Ph.D in Applied Mathematics in 2012 from University of New Mexico, USA. Before, She received her B.A in Mathematics in 2006 from Xiamen University, China.

Dr. Xu’s research interest includes computational fluid dynamics, fluid/solid interactions, applications of fluid dynamics in biological applications, high performance computing (MPI, CUDA C). D

r. Xu has published papers in the distinguished Journal of Fluid Mechanics and Physics of Fluids, and she also served as a referee for those journals.

Research Interest

1. Numerical solution for integral equations: Volterra integral equations, Fredholm integral equation for first and second kinds.

2. Numerical solution for system of integral equations: Volterra integral equations, Fredholm integral equation for first and second kinds.

3. The boundary element method for the numerical solution of boundary-value problems (BVPs) with constant and variable coefficients.

4. Numerical solution for heat conduction, Helmholtz equation and diffusion equation with constant and variable coefficients.

5. The finite element method for a linear partial differential equation. Other numerical method such as finite difference method and quadrature methods for partial differential equation and integral equations.

6-Analytic and approximate methods, such as: Adomian decomposition method, Variational Iteration Method, Homotopy analysis method, Homotopy perturbation method, differential transform method and the new iterative method proposed by Daftardar-Gejji and Jafari (NIM or DJM)
