Abstract

An ecological production management system that promotes and enhance biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. In organic farming there are 4 main principles and principle of health, principle of ecology, principle of fairness and principle of care are the main principles of organic farming. Principle of health is avoiding the use of fertilizers, pesticides, animal drugs and food additives. Principle of ecology should be based on the living ecological system fairness with them emulate them and help sustain them. Principle of fairness should build on relationships that ensure fairness with regard to common environment and life processes. Principle of care should be managed in a precautionary manner to protect the health and well being of current and future generation and the environment. In organic farming there are some components like crop rotation, cover cropping, green manure, animal manure and livestock management. Improve the soil health, disease and pest pest resistance and weed competitiveness are the some of advantages in organic farming. Not only that, there also have some of disadvantages like lower yields, land use, production costs and pest and disease management. Soil fertility, water conservation and control pests and disease management are the some of aims in organic farming.

I am Keeda Manoranjani. I am from Sri Lanka. Currently I am following a Advanced Diploma in Organic Farming conducted by WELLNESS ORGANIC FARMS, Srilanka.
