Biography

Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Sihag is a distinguished teacher and educationist of International reputation. He did his Graduation in Biology, Masters’ \degree in Zoology and Doctorate degree in Environmental Biology/Apiculture. Apiculture. Since1979, he had been on the faculty of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar in different capacities as Assistant Scientist, Honey bees (1979-1988); Associate Professor & Research Leader, Beekeeping (1988- 995); Professor, Environmental Biology / Apiculture. (till date); Head, Department of Zoology & Aquaculture(1997-2000) and Dean, College of Basic Sciences & Humanities (2001-2006). He has more than 35 years of distinguished record in teaching / research, and educational management and administration. During these years, he has made several significant research contributions in the discipline of Environmental Biology / Apiculture / Fish Pathology / Vermiculture. He has published more than 200 research and semi-technical articles in reputed National / International Journals / Magazines, and edited six books. His achievements have been widely recognized at National and International levels.

 

Research Interest

Ecology and conservation of aquatic species, Biodiversity and functioning of riparian and aquatic ecosystems, Environmental monitoring in surface waters (with special focus on benthic invertebrates, fish populations and habitat characterization), watershed planning, Extreme weather events, Environmental Impact Assessment in watercourses and definition of mitigation measures, Integrated environmental rehabilitation in watercourses for promoting biodiversity, Ecophysiology of freshwater bivalves, Freshwater Exotic Species.
