Biography :

Clinical Professor, School of pharmacy, Otogo University. In order to improve oral bioavailability of drugs with poor aqueous solubility, an amorphous form or a metastable polymorph may be used. These forms, however, have a risk of either crystallising (amorphous) or changing to a more stable polymorph with loss of oral bioavailability. Research focuses on factors influencing the stability of the amorphous form or the metastable polymorphic form. Current projects in this area include: the stability of amorphous drug upon milling the formulation of amorphous suspensions

Dr. Madhu Anand
Postdoctoral fellow Department of Chemistry,
Agra University, India

Biography :

I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemistry, Agra University. I have twelve years of research experience in toxicology as evident from publications in human toxicology, target enzyme interaction, monitoring and health risk assessment. My research mainly focused on environmental toxicants and related oxidative stress, as early biological effect, possibly involved in associated health risks among exposed human population. My research work was carried out in collaboration with King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. My research focused on environmental toxicants such as organochlorine pesticides, metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and related oxidative stress possibly involved in associated health risks among exposed human population, especially women and children. As part of my doctoral work I have biomonitored blood and tissue organochlorine pesticide levels in association with breast cancer (Study published); also determined blood PAHs in women suffering from benign and malignant breast lesions due to their probable potential role in the development of hormone dependent malignancies (Study published). Additionally, I have studied the effect of pesticides on blood and tissue, its relation with lipid-peroxidation and antioxidant status in the women suffering from malignant and benign breast disease. I did some work on MCF-7; human breast adenocarcinoma cells line to see the effect of organochlorine pesticides. Having work experience on children in special reference to aplastic anemia (Study published). Further, I have also investigated the role of placental residues of organochlorine pesticides and PAHs, possibly involved in reproductive toxicity i.e. preterm deliveries in women (Study published) and relation of blood PAHs with breast disease among women during my thesis / research work. My research experience also involved the development of novel analytical methods/procedures for the accurate and precise determination of chemical pollutants. As a research team member, I am responsible for presenting work at scientific conferences, seminars and writing the manuscripts. I am very much interested to learn new techniques for future research. Apart from research work I have 1 year, nine months experience in Council of Science and Technology- Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. Where I was engaged in formulation, review and report the findings of projects related to the area of medical and chemical sciences (reviewed 32 projects and write two projects). I am engaged in teaching also from last three years for M.Sc and M.Phil (Chemistry) classes.
