Arcoida, comprising concerning 570 species of blood cockles, is Associate in Nursing ecologically and economically vital lineage of bivalve molluscs. Current classification of arcoids is basically supported morphology, that shows widespread homoplasy. Despite 2 recent studies using multi-locus analyses with broad sampling of Arcoida, biological process relationships among major lineages stay polemic. curiously, mitochondrial genomes of many pelecypod species area unit 2–3 times larger than those found in most bilaterians, and area unit among the biggest bilaterian mitochondrial genomes according up to now. These results highlight the requirement of elaborated phyletic study to explore biological process relationships at intervals Arcoida so the evolution of mitochondrial ordering size may be understood.
