Biography :

Dr. Moshe Attia is a board certified neurosurgeon in the department of Neurosurgery at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. His specialty focuses on skull base and cerebrovascular surgery. Previously, Dr. Attia was an attending neurosurgeon at Hadassah where he has operated and participated in multiple skull base surgeries. As an attending neurosurgeon he has performed craniotomies and clipping of intracranial aneurysms, resection of skull base tumors, cerebral revascularizations (bypass), resection of benign and malignant brain tumors, head trauma surgeries and general neurosurgery.

Education

Dr. Moshe Attia graduated top 5% of class in 2001 from the Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical School. He became a board certified neurosurgeon in May 2007 after graduating a neurosurgical residency (2001-2007) at Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer. Afterwards, Dr. Attia has accomplished a three years clinical fellowship specializing in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery (two years in USA and one year in Jerusalem, 2007-2010). During this period he has participated and operated on multiple complex skull base and cerebrovascular surgeries and gained a great clinical and surgical experience.

Postgraduate training: Internship: Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel – 2000-2001. Residency: Neurosurgery, Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel – 2001-2007. Board certification in Neurosurgery- May 2007.Clinical Skull Base and Cerebrovascular Fellowship (two years in USA and one year in Jerusalem) – 2007-2010. Attending Neurosurgeon at Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, Jerusalem – 2010-2011. 2012- present- Attending Neurosurgeon at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

Clinical interests

Skull base surgery for meningiomas, neuromas, acoustic neuromas, craniopharyngiomas, pituitary tumors, chordomas and chondrosarcomas.Cerebrovascular surgery for intracranial aneurysms, arterio-venous malformations, cavernous malformations, bypass surgery for moyamoya and cerebral steno-occlusive diseases. Biography :

Dr. Varun Kapoor is an Immunologist with over 10 years of research experience. He earned his Masters in Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute after which he completed his doctorate in Immunology from the University Of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester. For his doctoral thesis, he studied the mechanisms regulating CD8+T cell survival in non-lymphoid tissues during acute viral infections, as well as transcriptional regulation of CD8+T cell differentiation into memory populations, which protect us against secondary infections. Dr. Kapoor received the Deans Award for Excellence in the Core Curriculum during his PhD. To avoid the long cold Massachusetts winter he moved to San Francisco, California where he is pursuing his post-doctoral research at Genentech in the field of cancer immunology. He is currently studying the role of immune inhibitory receptors in dampening the host response to tumors with the ultimate goal of enhancing tumor immunity. Dr. Kapoor is also interested in studying the functional heterogeneity of stromal cells in lymphoid organs during health and disease, particularly cancer.

S. V. Amitha Charu Rama Mithra is a scientist on plant Biotechnology in Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. she completed her Ph. D from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi in Genetics (Plant breeding) from 1999-2003 with OGPA 3.87/4. Worked in the area of Early generation selection in Brassica juncea for productivity enhancement through indirect multi-trait selection using both morphological and isozyme markers through variance and regression based approaches for both M. Sc and Ph. D. she also trainer for Infinium, Golden Gate and Bead express training from Illumina, Inc: 18-21 April, 2011 and 13/06/2011. Trained in GBS analysis workflow for mapping applications between 01st Dec 2014 to 02nd Dec 2014 by Premas Biotech supported by Illumina Inc. she also contributed her great work Identified and characterized a drought tolerant mutant and in the process of mapping it (in press in AoB plants). Part of the team on decoding wheat genome from NRCPB which is a partner in International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC). she was honoured with Award from ICAR JRF in 1997 (Rank II) Award from IARI SRF in 1999 (Rank I) Award from CSIR-UGC NET and JRF in 2001 (Rank <25) Award from ICAR NET in 2001 Awarded Pioneer Batch Medal for the highest OGPA in Final year B.Sc (Agriculture) in 1997

Prof. (Dr.) Prasanta Kumar Mitra is a very senior medical teacher and researcher. He has completed thirty seven years in medical teaching and about forty years in research. His research area is ‘Medicinal plants of India’. He has four Ph.D.s to his credit and published one hundred five research papers in national and international journals. Fifteen students did their Ph.D. work under his guidance. He was co-supervisor of the research projects of five MD students. Prof. Mitra was Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Biotechnology and Biosciences. He is now Editor, Associate Editor and Member of Editorial Board of many national and international research journals. On behalf on Govt. of West Bengal, India Prof. Mitra worked as Coordinator of World Bank and GTZ projects for Health Sector Development in North Bengal. Prof. Mitra is a well known writer and science popularizer. He has written fifteen hundred eighty seven popular science articles in different newspapers / magazines. He is the recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Excellence award for his academic excellence and outstanding contribution in the field of popularization of science in society.

Biography :

Dr. Ronsard, a post doctoral fellow at Division of Infectious Diseases, Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). His current research focuses on “Identification of immunomodulatory effects of a drug in rhesus monkey model and its key role in the canonical signaling pathways”. He is actively involved in deciphering the differentially expressed key genes and the signaling pathways in rhesus monkey by using Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA). Before joining BCH and HMS, he completed his doctoral research program from Virology Lab, National Institute of Immunology (NII), Department of Biotechnology, India. At NII, he conducted his studies on HIV-1 virus for six years in three different projects acquiring quantal experimental and theoretical knowledge. At beginning, he started his research study on genetic and functional characterization of HIV-1 genes and human genes from North India (Neogi et al 2011, Indian J. Med. Research). His research publications on the functional role of natural substitutions in Vpu gene (Verma et al 2013, PloS one), Tat gene (Ronsard et al 2014, PloS one), Vpr gene (Lata et al 2013, PloS one) and Vif gene (Ronsard et al 2015, Scientific Reports) showcases his strong ability to conduct research on molecular genetics of HIV-1 virus.
