Daniel Lowy is currently working as Sr. Scientist at Flexel, LLC in college Park, MD, Washington D.C., USA.He has extensive experience in most topics related to electrochemistry, including electroorganic synthesis (electroreduction of activated olefins and of carbon dioxide), electroanalytical chemistry (ion-selective electrodes for surfactants and miniaturized reference electrodes to be used in corrosive aqueous solutions, or in aqueous-organic and organic media), microbial fuel cells, sea water batteries, nanotechnologies (including galvanic cells based on phospholipid vesicles and the quantized charging of gold nanoclusters), surface modification (with self-assembled monolayers and via layer-by-layer deposition), and galvanic cells operating with aqueous electrolytes. He has published over 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 2 science books on nano-electrochemistry, and 10 chapters in edited electrochemistry textbooks. In addition, he co-authored 7 awarded patents (five Romanian and two U.S. patents).

José Francisco Sousa Bitencourt has graduation in Materials, Processes and Eletronic Components at Technology College of São Paulo (2005), master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Microeletronics (2008), and PhD in Sciences (2013) from the Polytechnic School of University of São Paulo, Brazil. Since the year of 2004, he has devoted his time to scientific research of luminescent properties of powdered covalent crystals, namenly feldspars, quartz and aluminum oxide. The latter was studied for applications in personal and environmental dosimetry when produced with several sets of parameters and concentration of doping elements. These materials were also obtained in the form of thin films using magnetron sputtering. Luminescent data was acquired using Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) and Thermoluminescence (TL). Xray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Eletronic Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Eletronic Microscopy (TEM) and ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectroscopy) were also performed to analyse the physical properties of the materials produced in the duration of the project.

Dr. MAGDI EL MESSIRY has done his BSc. and MSc. in textile engineering in Alexandria University with excellent first grade of honor. Egyptian government sent him to one of the famous textile institutes in Russia (Moscow Textile University) for obtaining his PhD degree in Design of Textile Machinery. On his return to Alexandria University in 1971, he was assigned as staff member and he got his professorship in 1981. He held position of the Vice Dean in period from 1994 to 1998. He worked as Head of Textile Department (2000-2002 and 2005-2011). He is considered as one of the main experts in the Textile Industry in Egypt. He was a member of the Directing Board of Spinning and Weaving Holding Company, the main Textile Company in Egypt. He is now a technical adviser to the Owner Board. Since 1998 till now he is a member of technical committee of the Egyptian Textile Consolidation Fund.
  Dr. Magdi participated in establishing several textile departments in Egypt and in Arab countries. He carried out several granted projects on international level with the colleagues from UK, France, Spain, USA, CZ, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. He is participating in scientific board in several journals. In the last 5 years he acted as an international expert in innovation and technology transfer.

Biography :

Dr. Suwas Nikumb received Ph. D. in Laser Physics from Pune University, India in 1980. He is currently a Senior Research Officer at the National Research Council, in London, Ontario Canada. His research background is laser micromachining using short pulse, diode-pumped solid-state lasers and their applications to micro devices and products. He is leading projects on laser texturing materials, laser polishing, superhydrophobic & Super hydrophilic and other functional surfaces, micro fabricated devices, sensors design & fabrication and laser joining of materials. He has published over 236 papers, technical reports and book chapters, and is co-inventor on 12 US/Canadian patents. He has been collaborating with industries, universities, academic institutions nationally and internationally. His research has already resulted in the formation of two new companies, Capital Laser Inc. and Medtrode Inc. in Canada. Dr. Nikumb has received several NRC awards including NRC’s Outstanding Research Achievement award, NRC-NSC Eminent Researcher and the Federal Partners of Technology Transfer (FPTT) award. Since 1995 he is appointed as an Adjunct Research Professor at the Department of Mechanical & Materials engineering as well as a member of the graduate research committee of the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

Dr Hazizan Md Akil is currently a full professor of polymer composites in the School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Professor Hazizan received his PhD degree in Composites Materials from the University of Liverpool, UK, in 2002. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and a full Professor in 2012. His main research areas are on Natural Fibre Reinforced Composites, Nanocellulose from Lignocellulosic Biomass and Biocomposites. He has published several book’s chapters and more than 200 journal articles. Prof. Hazizan has a total citations of more than 5564 and an h-index of 37 and an i10-Index of 110 (Google Scholar – 8th May 20198). He is a regional Editor for the Journal of Applied Sciences (Scialert), Regional Editor for Trends in Applied Sciences Research (Scialert) and Associate Editor for Frontier in Materials (Polymeric and Composite Materials). . Prof Hazizan has been honored with a total of 15 local and international awards for his achievements including Geneva Exhibition, ITEX, MTE, PENCIPTA and i-ENVEX. Prof Hazizan was also named as one of the Top Research Scientists in Malaysia (TRSM 2014) by Academy of Sciences Malaysia and Malaysia’s Rising Star Award (MRSA 2015) by Thomson and Reuters.
